The main aim of the course is to develop the pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. The course enhances the knowledge and skill of the fresh Graduate Engineers who join this course as their own as well as the engineers sponsored by Power utilities etc.
Eligibility : B-Tech/B.E. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized Engineering College/University with minimum of 60% marks for both Nonsponsored & sponsored candidates. Candidates under sponsored category have to provide sponsorship letter from its employer/ sponsoring authority.
Duration : The course is of 39 weeks duration & covers all aspects of Hydro Power Plant Engineering including O&M, erection, commissioning, Management , Distribution of Electricity & Tariff. The course covers the syllabus as per Indian Electricity Rules.
Age Limit : No age limit.
No. of seats : 60 (Sixty). Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH etc. is applicable as per Govt. Of India norms. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from the power utilities. Total No of seats may vary as per requirements. Vacant seats in sponsored category may be filled by nonsponsored category & vice-versa if required.
Selection Criteria for Admission: Merit basis (% of marks of qualifying engineering degree).
Placement : NPTI is maintaining close linkages with the Hydro Power utilities & reputed companies for the placement.
How to Apply: Prescribed application as per format(i.e. Annexure A ,B & C ) filled with relevant details along with Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- including Service-Tax, (Non-refundable) in favour of ”HPTC, NPTI Nangal ”payable at Naya Nangal (SBI, Branch code-0689), Punjab, should reach to Principal Director, National Power Training Institute HPTC, Nangal ,Distt. Ropar-140124 (Punjab, latest by 28th July 2014 up to 05.00 PM. Envelope containing the application form and other documents should be marked “Application for PGDC (Hydro) – 2014-15.
Course Fees : (1) For Non-sponsored candidates: Rs. 1, 62,000/- + Service Tax@ 12.36% in two
installments (1st installment: Rs.1,00, 000/-+ Service Tax@ 12.36% at the time of counseling for confirmation of admission & 2nd installment: Rs.62, 000/- +Service Tax@ 12.36% on or before 27th Dec 2013). (2) For sponsored candidates Rs. 1, 85,000/- + Service Tax@ 12.36% at the time of counseling for confirmation of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates. The course fee paid is non- refundable.
Transportation Charges & Security Deposits : Transportation charge Rs. 5,000/- +Service Tax @ 4.94% & security Rs.2, 000/-(Refundable) are to be deposited at the time of admission.
Lodging/ Boarding : Hostel facility (twin sharing basis)is available on first come first serve basis, subject to availability @ Rs. 2,000/- per month & total amount for full tenure (Rs.18,000/-) to be deposited at the time of admission. Boarding will be directly born to hostel canteen.
